Alive Unto God · Viventes Autem Deo

BUMSEMITES — men who passed through the same seminary, and still show up for each other and for the school that shaped us.

Where It Began

A Foundation Built to Last

Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary, Nnewi — under the Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion — has, since 1999, formed young men in character, discipline, and faith. Long after graduation, that formation endures in the values old boys carry into their families, careers, and communities as BUMSEMITES.

The Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary Nnewi Old Boys Association exists to keep that bond alive — connecting alumni across sets, states, and the diaspora, preserving the seminary's history, and organizing the association's collective voice in service of the school and one another. Structured today around a National Executive Council, the Association is building toward State Chapters and International Chapters, so no BUMSEMITE is out of reach — governed by a constitution adopted in May 2025.

To that end, we're building a growing digital home for the association — find us on Instagram and X at @bumsemoldboys, and on Facebook.

This platform is where that history is documented and where the next chapter of the association's story is written — together.

1999
Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary, Nnewi is founded by the Bishop and Proprietor, Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Izundu Nmezinwa Okpala, under the Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion — with Dr. Harold Obi serving as pioneer Principal.
2009
During the school's 10th anniversary, old boys convene at Royal Habitat Hotels, Nnewi to unite the five graduated sets. Maazi Obikwelu Clinton Nwafor Edeh is elected interim President and formally inaugurated by the then Bishop and Proprietor, Most Rev. Prof. Godwin Izundu Nmezinwa Okpala.
2021
A tentative constitution is adopted and the office of President is made substantive. In a physical election at the seminary chapel, Maazi Edeh is unopposed as the Association's Substantive Pioneer President.
May 2025
The Association's full Constitution is drafted, ratified by the National Executive Council, and formally adopted — alongside CAC registration and the opening of official bank accounts.
1 Dec 2025
The Association conducts its first fully digitized national election, recording the highest voter turnout in its history — over 600 alumni participating — under Ekenedilichukwu Amaizu, Chairman of the Electoral Committee.
30 Dec 2025
Handover ceremony: Maazi Edeh transfers leadership to Agbodike Onyekachukwu Chiemerie, the Association's second National President.
9 Feb 2026
An old boy is appointed to the school's Board of Governors — extending the association's voice into the seminary's own governance.

Our Projects

Ways the Association gives back to Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary.

Street Lighting Initiative

"The seminary that shaped us deserves to shine." Literally, in this case.

In 2026, BUMSEMOBA took a step that many have talked about, and few have done. 15 poles and 19 solar lights now stand on the grounds of Bishop Uzodike Memorial Seminary — lighting the chapel front, the field, the hostels, the security post, and the back of the school, from dusk until daybreak. 100% solar. Zero electricity cost. Built to last.

Made possible through the generosity of one son of BUMSEM, Comrade Ugochukwu Osakwe (Sir O) — one man's gift to a community that gave him everything.

The seminary is not fully lit yet — but here's the thing: your name goes on the pole. Every donor, every set, every group that sponsors a light gets inscribed on the pole they funded — a permanent mark, a lasting legacy on the grounds where you grew up. Individuals can take a light. Sets can take two or three.

“Let your light so shine before men.”Matthew 5:16

The light is on. Will you add to it?
